Military Public Affairs

My career in communications began in one of the most demanding environments imaginable: the U.S. military. As a Mass Communication Specialist, I shaped how the Navy was understood by the public, the press, and international partners.

On board the USS Theodore Roosevelt, I was at the front lines of crisis communication during the COVID‑19 outbreak that drew worldwide attention. With national media outlets pressing for answers and a crew of over 5,000 Sailors and Marines looking for clarity, I helped manage messaging that balanced transparency, security, and morale under extraordinary pressure.

Beyond crisis response, I planned and executed large‑scale events such as ship tours that opened the carrier to thousands of civilians, officials, and journalists. I also created a digital strategy that grew the ship’s Facebook following by more than 300 percent during a six‑month deployment.

I also served as a liaison between senior Navy leaders, foreign dignitaries, and international press. In Vietnam, Australia, and India, I supported diplomatic outreach missions that strengthened alliances and built goodwill. These weren’t just photo ops. They were strategic efforts to show American service members as partners invested in local communities.

The video, photography, and graphics that supported these missions were featured on FOX, CBS, ABC, CNN, and other major news outlets.

Those years taught me the essence of public affairs: in moments of scrutiny and high stakes, words and images carry the weight of national reputation. It’s an expertise I now bring to every communications challenge.
